Swastika Meaning And History

Swastika is a Sanskrit that means all is well, good fortune, luck and well being.  It is an ancient cosmic or religious symbol formed by a Greek cross with the ends of the arms bent at right angles in both clockwise or a counterclockwise direction. If it turns to clockwise direction it is being good, if counterclockwise it is being destructive. The nazism has imbued this symbol with evil associations, no matter which direction it turns. It is used widely throughout the world as a symbol of prosperity and good fortune. In India, it continues to be the most common symbol of Hindus and Jains, as well as for Buddhists, for whom it symbolizes the Buddhas footprints. It was even used as a decoration in the synagogues of ancient Israel.  The counterclockwise swastika was adopted as the symbol of the Nazi Party at its founding in 1919 – 20. The idea of taking on the swastika as the symbol of the Nazis came from Adolf Hitler himself. Swastika was used on the flag, badge, and armband of Nazi Germany. Because of its usage in Nazi Germany the symbol of swastika has become stigmatized in the Western world.

Raelian Emblem (Swastika of David)

Raelism, or The Raelian movement, is a UFO cult that believes that planet Earth and its people had received contacts by ancient extraterrestrials with the resemblance of human beings.
Symbol of the Raelian Movement is a hexagram intertwined with a right-facing swastika. This is a symbol that Rael saw on the Elohim spaceship. As a point of note, a very similar symbol can be seen on some copies of the Tibetan Book of the Dead, where a swastika sits inside two overlapping triangles.
For Raelians, this symbol means infinity. The hexagram is infinite space (one explanation indicates the upward pointing triangle represents the infinitely large, while the downward pointing one indicates the infinitely small), while the swastika is infinite time. Raelians believe that the universe's existence is cyclical, with no beginning or end.

Jain Swastika (Jainist Symbol)

Swastika symbol has much more relevance and significance in the Jain religion as compared to the Hindu religion.
In Jainism, Swastika represents the Seventh Jina, more popularly known as the Tirthankara Suparsva.
It is one of the most prominent auspicious symbols of the present era.
In the cultural traditions of Svetambar Jains, Swastika is one of the main symbols of the ashta-mangalas.
A Jain swastika is normally associated with the three dots on the top accompanied with a crest and a dot.
